Ryan Thomas serves as the Municipal Project Manager, supporting the City of Alpharetta's Council Initiatives. In this role, develops, coordinates and manages project activities and resources to meet project objectives. Ryan also conducts policy research, analysis and facilitates legislative advocacy and outreach for the City. Ryan began his career in local government, interning for City of Fort Lauderdale District 4 Commissioner Ben Sorensen and serving as a volunteer under the Neighbor Support Division and the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Community Court program. He also served as the Program Coordinator for the Non-Congregate Shelter Program that was developed for homeless individuals seeking shelter from the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Ryan joined the City of Fort Lauderdale Commission Office and was promoted to Chief of Staff by Fort Lauderdale Vice Mayor Ben Sorensen in 2022.
An Orlando, FL native, Ryan earned an associate degree from Broward College and is currently a Senior at Florida Atlantic University studying Disaster Management and Public Administration. His coursework is focused heavily on Crisis Management, Hazards, and Mitigation. He also holds certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Florida Atlantic University in Hospitality Management.
